Week Nine – Last Week of Home Learning!

It is our final week in the google classroom! We are all really excited about getting back into the classroom and settling back into our class routines.

Last week, we worked hard to create an imaginative story on book creator and we revised different types of punctuation. In numeracy, we focused on learning how to solve simple equations, covert units of measurement and read scales. We continued to learn about meta skills and spent time learning about the importance of self-management. We had the opportunity to learn about Aboriginal art and we created some beautiful art work.

As this is our final week in the google classroom our learning tasks are going to look slightly different. The literacy and numeracy activities have been chosen to help the children revise subjects which have been previously taught. Our health and wellbeing tasks focus on reflecting on home learning and preparing for our return to school. Ms Dorantt has prepared two additional fun learning tasks for the children.

I hope you have a fun final week learning at home and I can’t wait to see everyone next week in the classroom.

Health and Wellbeing Week

Blog Post  Wellbeing Week – 8th – 12th February

Next week we will be having a wellbeing week at Crown Primary.

Normally we would have different events happening throughout the term which give us a chance to focus on different parts of the curriculum.

Our wellbeing week will provide us with further opportunities to develop our skills, apply our learning in new contexts and connect with others.

There will still be opportunities to practice literacy and numeracy activities and keep a routine if that works best for your family.

During this week families are encouraged to do what they can from the activities on the class grids, and there will also be literacy and maths activities and whole school tasks. Remember it’s also important to take some time away from the screen and get outside for some fresh air!

We would like to take the opportunity to share our plans for next week so you know what to expect.

What will this look like?

Your child’s google classroom:

  • Register and emotional check in to be completed by 11am.
  • Grid of 12 activities to choose from throughout the week – you can choose to do as little or as much to structure your week.  These will be posted on your child’s google classroom.
  • Literacy and maths to practice throughout the week – it’s great to keep the routine of practising these key areas of our learning.
  • Class Google meets  will take place as normal.

Whole school activities:

  • Assembly with Mrs Douglas – look out for this in the classroom!
  • Writing Challenge – Jurassic Crown – Watch the video and write a story about the dinosaur who came to Crown Primary.  Please find the video and the google form to share your story: Jurassic Crown Story Form
  • Draw the Crown staff!  – We would really like your help to create a visual representation of all our staff at Crown Primary for the School blog and to display in school. This helps all pupils, families, staff and visitors to our school know who everyone is. Knowing people’s names and what they do is an important part of ensuring we value each and every member of our school community.  You might decide to draw one member of staff and send this in or you might like to draw several! Please share this using the following google form: Draw the Crown Staff form
  • Connect with others – can you arrange some Google Meets throughout the week with your friends so you can catch up and chat just like you would do in the playground? Click the link for a guide on using Google Chat & Google Meet Video Guide

We look forward to a great week ahead!

Term 3

Primary 4 has had an excellent start to term 3 in the google classroom. Everyone is engaging in the tasks and working really hard to complete their learning activities. We have had some very successful google meets and completed some exciting learning challenges. Next week the google meets will take place at 9.45 am on Monday and Thursday. I will continue to post all learning activities on a Sunday afternoon and they can be completed at a time that suits you throughout the week.

Please find attached the learning overview for term 3 below.

Tuesday – children can bring in gadgets and/or games to play with in the afternoon. The children are aware that they need to ask for permission from an adult at home and that the school cannot accept any responsibility for any damage caused to their property.
