Final Week of Term

We are all enjoying our last week in Primary 4.

The children have planned a day of fun tomorrow to celebrate the end of term!

They can come into school dressed for some outside play, bring a gadget or board game from home and an extra snack/cushion/pjs for a movie afternoon.

Thank you to everyone for handing in the money for the ice – cream van. We are all looking forward to this end of term treat!

P.E this week will be on Friday morning with Miss Brown.

Health and Wellbeing

This week in Primary 4 we will be starting our bodies topic. This will include the following learning:

demonstrate some basic skills in caring for a baby

be able to recognise the differences between wants and needs

stages of life – baby to adulthood

know that as they approach puberty, physical and emotional changes take place

know and use the correct terminology for parts of the body

be aware of the parts of the body that are private to them

know what are appropriate and in appropriate things to say

know what is appropriate and inappropriate in terms of touching

Should you have any questions or queries regarding this learning please get in touch with Mrs. McCormick or Mrs. Patterson via the school office.

Thanks

Happy Holidays!

We have had a great last week of term and we are all excited for the holidays. This week we have embraced our imagination, creativity and problem solving skills. Everyone has worked really hard and has been a successful learner this week. Well done Primary 4!

I hope you all have an enjoyable holiday and I look forward to seeing you all for more learning in term 4!

Week Eleven

We had a great week at school. We enjoyed learning with each other and playing in the sunshine. We had our first trip to ‘Jannyland’ and loved exploring and playing with the free play items.

Last week our main focus was continuing to read our class novel, ‘Borrowers’ by Mary Norton. We explored the comprehension strategy – making connections and discussed some very current themes connecting to the story plot. We enjoyed building our own Borrower model homes and we are very proud of them. In mathematics, we have been revisiting area and we completed a garden design challenge. We all had fun on Friday celebrating diversity day and enjoyed a game of bingo!

We are all excited about our last week of term three! Only four more days to go!

Week Ten

We have had a great first week back at school. We have enjoyed reuniting with our friends and familiarising ourselves with classroom routines. It has been so lovely to learn together again.

This week our main focus has been on settling back into school however we have also been busy starting our class novel, ‘Borrowers’ by Mary Norton. Our literacy work is going to centre on this text. This week we have been working on the comprehension skills – prediction, visualisation and making connections. In numeracy we have been revisiting algebraic equations.

Next week we are going to design and build a small model house for the Borrowers. Can I ask everyone to bring in an old shoe box or a cardboard box and any small house hold items that they might want to use in the model for example bottle tops, buttons, small cardboard boxes, scraps of material etc. Any extra boxes would be appreciated for pupils who are unable to take in objects from home.
